FRANCES BELL
Frances has been interested in portraiture since her teenage years, and found an ideal school to pursue the figurative training in depth at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence. She studied there for three years, leaving in 2004 though she continues her association with her old school by teaching in Florence for short periods of time. Her classical roots play a central role in Frances’ painting today as she develops an individual style which has lead her to success at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition on several occasions, and where in 2006 she was awarded the De Laszlo Foundation Award for Portraiture. Since then she has won the Windsor and Newton Young Artist Award at the SWA in 2010.
Frances enjoys working from life both with figurative subjects and the outdoor landscape, and occupies most of her time undertaking a variety of commissions.
