Sheila began working in pastel in 1988 exhibiting in London and the south. Her work has been selected for  the Pastel Society, New English Art Club , Marine Society and Royal West of England Academy, Bristol.

She was elected a member of the Society of Women Artists in 1995 and the Pastel Society in 2011. She has won several awards including the Unison Pastel Award at the Pastel Society (2009), A&I Award ( 2014), Most Popular Painting at the SWA Annual exhibition ( 2008) and SWA Presidents Award ( 2019), Caran d'Ache Award at The Pastel Society 2025 and 2026..

Her work is in private and public collections including those of Hampshire County Council, Hunting Management Group and the Russell-Cotes Museum, Bournemouth.
