MAUREEN DAVIES

artist.jpg

Maureen trained as a Textile Designer at the Central School of Art in the 1970s. Her time there fostered a love of colour and pattern and instilled a strong sense of design, influencing the way she works today.

She lives on the edge of the New Forest, which provides much of the inspiration for her work. Although she enjoys the challenges presented by working in different media, pastels remain a firm favourite. Galleries representing her work include the Peter Hedley Gallery, Wareham, the Wykeham Gallery, Stockbridge and the Architect’s Gallery, Teddington.

She has exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the Pastel Society on several occasions and the SWA, of which she has been elected an Associate Member.

Awards include the SAA Artist of the Year 2007, Frank Herring Award with the Pastel Society, 2007, the Talens Award at Patchings, 2008, and the SWA President’s and Vice-President’s Choice Award, 2009.
