Doreen has drawn and painted people for as long as she can remember. She especially loves painting children, striving to capture the innocence of childhood whilst evoking a strong narrative element enabling the viewer to weave a story around each painting. In particular she enjoys painting in France, spending many happy summer hours at Dinard, gathering material for her work and capturing the strong reflections and beautiful glow of light bouncing off the large smooth beach at low tide.
Elected a member of the Society of Women Artists in 1996, she was presented with the Daler Rowney Award by the Society's Patron HRH Princess Michael of Kent in 2005.
Listed in Who's Who in Art, The Dictionary of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Archives of the Society of Women Artists, Doreen has exhibited in Galleries and exhibitions throughout the midlands, East Anglia and the Home Counties, and also with:
