Working purely in watercolour, enjoying its
translucency, subtlety and unpredictability my work has an emphasis on colour and individuality. For me the
magic of colours intermingling, pushing and pulling as they flow together produces an excitement full of possibilities. The unusual is the inspiration for my wide choice of subject matter which echoes my interest in
complex patterns of shape, light, colour, and texture. I use a limited palette and allow the
painting to evolve using many layers of wet into wet translucent watercolours which gives my work unity, vibrancy and living colour. I
teach privately and work on location and in the studio. In 2005 I was elected as a full member of the SWA and won the Anthony James Lester Art Critic Award for ‘the Duo’. I have exhibited for several years at the RI and RSMA and take part in the Surrey Open Studios in June. |
