HAZEL REEVES SWA FRSA

Professor Jude Howel Gravitas
Heather Cummings John Baker-Reeves
Mercy Kagia Mike Halden

Hazel Reeves is a specialist portrait sculptor, working in bronze to commission - “Obsessed by faces, portraits are at the core of all my artistic practice. I am fascinated by how emotions and expressions flicker across the face, yet a person’s character resides more permanently, captured in the way features of the face form and age. Capturing this is what obsesses me”.  Her latest commission is of Professor Jude Howell of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) – others include portraits of the rights activist Diane Mulligan OBE, the age activist Ralph Chapman and the recording artist Daniel Marcus Clarke.

In 2010 Hazel received two prestigious awards: the Society of Portrait Sculptors’ Master Class Prize and the Society of Women Artists’ Falle Fine Art Bronze Award. She exhibits her work at London galleries – including the Mall Galleries, the Cork Street Gallery, and the Menier Gallery - and in the South of England such as at RHS Garden Wisley. Over the last year she has exhibited in the open shows of the Society of Women Artists, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Society of Portrait Sculptors.

Hazel is an elected member of the Society of Women Artists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Hazel also loves to teach – she runs portrait sculpture workshops at the Sussex Sculpture Studios in Partridge Green.
